The Finals Introduces Exciting New Features in Season 2
Power Shift: A Fresh Take on 5v5 Gameplay
The highly anticipated second season of The Finals, the exhilarating first-person arena shooter, is set to launch later this week, bringing with it a plethora of new content and features. One of the most significant additions is the introduction of Power Shift, a novel 5v5 game mode that pits two teams against each other in a battle for control over a dynamic platform. This platform, which can be influenced by objects and abilities, tears through the environment, adding an extra layer of strategy to the gameplay. In Power Shift, players can seamlessly switch between light, medium, and heavy builds to adapt to the ever-changing battlefield and outmaneuver their opponents.
Expanded Arsenal: New Weapons and Abilities
Season 2 also introduces a wide array of new weapons and abilities for each of the three classes: light, medium, and heavy. These additions promise to revolutionize the way players interact with the game’s destructible environment. Medium class players will gain access to the Dematerializer, a powerful tool that allows them to temporarily erase walls or ceilings, creating opportunities for strategic shooting before the holes close up. Additionally, the Data Reshaper tool enables mediums to transform enemy mines into chairs or turrets into tables, effectively neutralizing their defenses.
Heavy class players will receive the Anti-Gravity Cube, a game-changing ability that manipulates gravity within its area of effect, causing objects and players to float. This ability can even be used on the cash-out box, adding an exciting new dimension to the game’s objective. Light class players will be equipped with the Gateway deployable portal, which allows for quick transportation between two locations. However, players must be cautious, as enemies can also utilize these portals to their advantage.
In terms of new weapons, light class players will receive the 93R burst-fire machine pistol, mediums will gain access to the FAMAS burst assault rifle, and heavys will be equipped with the powerful KS-23 slug shotgun.
A Hacked Game Show and a Glitchy Neon City
Season 2’s theme revolves around the game show being hacked by the CNS collection of hackers, resulting in the addition of a glitchy neon-style city map. This new arena features floating geometry, adding a fresh twist to the game’s parkour mechanics and overall gameplay experience.
Competitive Play and Rewards
For players seeking a more competitive experience, The Finals now offers private matches, which will be crucial for hosting LAN tournaments and custom competitions. Additionally, the introduction of a new League System for ranked play, complete with rewards and a career progression system, will keep players engaged and motivated to climb the ranks.
The Finals season 2 launches on March 14th for PC, Xbox Series S / X, and PlayStation 5.
