Urgent Need for Affordable Connectivity Program Funding
Congressional Inaction Threatens Internet Access
The White House has warned that millions of households could lose their internet connections if Congress does not find a way to fund the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Despite the urgency, the necessary funds have not been provided.
FCC’s Call to Action
In a letter to Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell (D-WA), FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel highlighted a survey showing that 77 percent of ACP households would face service disruptions or be forced to change their plans if the program-ends/” title=”Millions at Risk of Losing Internet as Affordable Connectivity Program Ends”>program ends.
“It is not too late to save the Nation’s largest broadband affordability program,”
Rosenworcel emphasized in a note on the FCC website. She added that the ACP has significant bipartisan support and that efforts to secure more funding are ongoing. The FCC is prepared to resume the program as soon as additional funding is available.
