WhatsApp Introduces Event Planning Feature for Communities

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that simplifies event planning within Communities, as announced by the company on Wednesday. The tool enables users to effortlessly organize gatherings and events, such as a book club meeting or a family reunion, directly within the app.

Creating and Responding to Events

With this new feature, any user can create an event, and others can indicate their attendance. This allows everyone in the group to see who is planning to participate. The event can be accessed through the group’s information page, and attendees will receive a notification as the event date approaches.

The event planning feature is initially being made available to groups that are part of a Community and will be expanded to all groups in the coming months.

Interacting in Announcement Groups

In addition to event planning, WhatsApp is introducing the ability for users to reply to messages in Announcement Groups. These groups are used by admins in a Community to share updates with all members. Replies are organized together, allowing users to view what others have said without receiving notifications for each response. This feature aims to provide admins with feedback from their members while maintaining a clutter-free and organized Announcement Group.

The Future of WhatsApp Communities

WhatsApp introduced Communities in November 2022 as a way for various groups, such as neighborhoods, school associations, and hobbyists, to stay connected by allowing admins to combine up to 50 groups. The company has stated that it will continue to introduce new features to Communities and groups in the coming months.
