Apple Acknowledges Silent Alarm Issue on iPhones, Promises Fix
Apple has confirmed that it is working on resolving a problem where some users‘ iPhone alarms are not playing any sound, following numerous complaints from affected individuals. The issue gained attention after being highlighted by Wall Street Journal reporter Joanna Stern and NBC correspondent Emilie Ikeda, with the latter’s Today Show segment focusing on the glitch in Apple’s clock app.
Apple said that it is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
While the tech giant has acknowledged the problem and committed to issuing a patch, no specific timeline has been provided for the rollout of the fix.
Speculation on the Cause
Some users on TikTok have speculated that the “attention awareness” feature in iOS, which monitors whether the user is looking at the screen to prevent dimming or lowering the volume of certain alerts, may be the culprit. However, Apple has not confirmed if this particular feature is responsible for the silent alarms.

Temporary Solution
Until the issue is resolved, affected users may need to rely on alternative methods to ensure they wake up on time, such as using a traditional analog alarm clock as a backup.
