WhatsApp Introduces Multiple Message Pinning Feature
In a recent announcement, WhatsApp revealed that users can now pin up to three messages in a chat, making it easier to access important information. Previously, the app only allowed users to pin a single message at the top of a conversation with an individual or a group.
Versatility in Pinned Messages
The new feature, announced by both Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp head Will Cathcart on their respective WhatsApp Channels, allows users to pin various types of messages, including text, images, and polls. This versatility makes it convenient for users to quickly access crucial information, such as a friend’s address or the details of a planned outing with a group.
How to Pin Messages
To pin a message, users need to long press on the desired message and select “Pin” from the menu. Additionally, users can choose the duration for which the message remains pinned: 24 hours, 7 days (the default option), or 30 days. This flexibility helps users remove pinned messages when the information becomes irrelevant after a certain period.
Limitations and Alternatives
One limitation of the feature is that there is no option to keep a message pinned indefinitely. For example, if you have pinned an address, you would need to re-pin the message after 30 days. As an alternative, users can “Star” a message and access it through the contact information menu, ensuring that the information remains easily accessible without the need for constant re-pinning.
The introduction of multiple message pinning in WhatsApp enhances user experience by providing a convenient way to keep important information at hand. As the app continues to evolve, users can expect more features that streamline communication and make it easier to stay connected with friends, family, and colleagues.
