Swatch Unveils Snoopy-Themed MoonSwatch Collaboration
Swatch has finally released the eagerly anticipated Snoopy MoonSwatch, dubbed the Mission to Moonphase, earlier than the brand’s print advertisements had suggested. The new all-white model, celebrating the full moon, will be available for purchase starting March 26, although the price has not been disclosed.
A Non-Limited Edition with Unique Features
Like its predecessors in the MoonSwatch collection, the Snoopy watch will not be a limited edition, ensuring that those who miss out on the initial release will have the opportunity to acquire it in the future. This latest collaboration between Swatch and Omega boasts a combination of a chronograph function and a moon-phase display, a first for Swatch.
Snoopy Takes Center Stage on the Lunar Surface
The moon-phase subdial at 2 o’clock features the beloved Peanuts character, Snoopy, reclining on the moon’s surface, showcasing the various lunar phases. This playful design element pays homage to the enduring connection between Omega, Snoopy, and NASA’s Apollo missions.
Enthusiasts’ Reception and Availability
Despite some concerns about the increasing frequency of gimmicky releases, as expressed by watch site Time+Tide, the Snoopy MoonSwatch is expected to be a highly sought-after model.
“Bringing in Snoopy was only ever a matter of time,” Barber said. “In fact, it’s remarkable there wasn’t a Snoopy version the first time around, which would of course have been the absolute must-have MoonSwatch.”
The MoonSwatch Mission to Moonphase will be available exclusively at selected Swatch stores, with a limit of one watch per person, per day, and per store. As with the entire MoonSwatch Collection, it is unlikely that the watches will ever be sold online through official channels.
