Chevy Blazer EV Back on Sale with Lower Prices and Software Fixes
After months of being off the market due to significant software issues, the Chevy Blazer EV is once again available for purchase. The automaker has implemented a software update to address the problems and has also announced price cuts and tax credit eligibility for the electric vehicle.
Software Glitches Plagued Early Blazer EV Models
When the Blazer EV first hit the market, numerous owners and reviewers encountered major software-related issues, such as unresponsive infotainment screens and charging errors. These problems led Chevy to halt sales of the vehicle in December.
Update Promises to Resolve Issues and Enhance Functionality
Chevy has now released a software update that it believes will fix the reported problems and provide additional enhancements for Blazer EV owners. The automaker plans to apply these fixes to its other electric vehicles as well.
“We are excited to have the Chevrolet Blazer EV available again, this time with a compelling price, enhanced features and functionality and qualifying for the full consumer tax credit,” Chevy VP Scott Bell said in a statement.
Significant Price Cuts and Tax Credit Eligibility
To entice buyers after the prolonged delay, Chevy has reduced the Blazer EV’s price by an average of $5,900. The LT AWD version, for example, will now retail for $50,195, down from its original price of $56,715. Additionally, the Blazer EV will qualify for the full $7,500 federal EV tax credit, which can now be applied at the dealership for new buyers.

Overcoming Challenges and Attracting Buyers
While the reduced prices and tax credit eligibility may help attract car shoppers looking for affordable electric vehicles, the Blazer EV will need to prove its reliability and performance to overcome the negative publicity surrounding its initial launch. As the electric vehicle market continues to grow, Chevy hopes that the Blazer EV can regain its footing and compete effectively with other offerings in the segment.
