### Zoom Introduces Document Tool with AI Integration

Starting Monday, Zoom users can now open a document tool directly within their video calling app. This new feature allows users to create and share files based on their meetings. Additionally, users will be prompted to use generative AI to assist in writing and editing these documents. This move is Zoom’s latest effort to compete with tech giants like [Microsoft](https://www.microsoft.com) and [Google](https://www.google.com) in becoming a comprehensive workplace solution for businesses.
#### Challenges in a Competitive Market
The market is “extremely difficult to compete in,” says Will McKeon-White, senior analyst of infrastructure and operations at research firm Forrester, but not impossible. Zoom laid off about 15 percent of its staff in early 2023, but—seemingly aware that it needed to expand—began integrating more calendar features and added cartoon avatars.

However, to effectively compete with bundled services like those offered by Google and Microsoft, which also include video calls, Zoom needs to continue expanding its feature set.
