The new iPad Pro, touted as the thinnest iPad ever, features a stunning visual experience with a Tandem OLED display. This innovative display technology utilizes two panels to deliver exceptional image quality. A nanotextured glass option is also available for reduced glare.

Under the hood, the iPad Pro is powered by the next-generation M4 chip, a significant upgrade from the previous M2. New gestures for the Apple Pencil have also been introduced.

Pricing for the 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $999 for the Wi-Fi model and $1,199 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular variant. The 13-inch iPad Pro begins at $1,299 for Wi-Fi and $1,499 for Wi-Fi + Cellular.

The M4 chip, Apple’s fourth-generation custom SoC, boasts a new display engine and significantly updated CPU and GPU cores. The base M4 chips feature 10 CPU and 10 GPU cores.

According to Apple, the new CPU offers a 50% performance boost over the M2 chips found in the previous iPad Pro generation. The GPU promises a remarkable 4x increase in rendering performance while maintaining the same performance per Watt as the M3. The new GPU architecture introduces dynamic caching, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and ray tracing – a first for the iPad.

Tandem OLED: Elevating the Visual Experience

“We’ve always envisioned iPad as a magical sheet of glass,” said John Ternus, SVP, Hardware Engineering during Apple’s iPad event in Cupertino on Tuesday. “And with the new iPad Pro, we wanted to give customers an even more remarkable visual experience.”

Apple has brought OLED technology to the iPad for the first time, addressing the need for exceptional light and color accuracy. The Tandem OLED screen supports an impressive 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness for both SDR and HDR content, along with 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness. Apple claims that no other device delivers this level of display quality.
