Jack Dorsey No Longer on Bluesky’s Board
In a recent exchange on X (formerly Twitter), Jack Dorsey, the co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, revealed that he is no longer a member of the Bluesky board. This revelation came as a surprise to many, as Dorsey had been a prominent backer of the decentralized social media platform since its inception in 2019.
The Unexpected Announcement
The news of Dorsey’s departure from the Bluesky board came to light when a user inquired about his involvement with the project. In response to the question, Dorsey simply stated,
“no.”
Despite numerous follow-up questions seeking further clarification, Dorsey did not provide any additional details about his decision to step down.
Bluesky’s Origins and Growth
Bluesky was first introduced by Dorsey in 2019 when he was still at the helm of Twitter. At the time, he announced that the company would be providing financial support to a small, independent team of developers tasked with creating an open and decentralized standard for social media platforms.
Since its inception, Bluesky has evolved into an independent public benefit corporation under the leadership of CEO Jay Graber. The project has attracted venture capital funding and opened its doors to the general public in February of this year.
Dorsey’s Quiet Departure

He shared his thoughts on the ongoing feud between rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar, unfollowed nearly all other accounts, and posted a message encouraging users to defend their rights using “freedom technology.”
As Bluesky continues to grow and evolve, it remains to be seen how Dorsey’s departure from the board will impact the project’s future direction and success.
