The Emotional Rollercoaster of Watching Movies on the Apple Vision Pro
A Quest for Tears
In Elif Batuman’s essay “Summer in Samarkand Part II,” published in N+1 in 2010, she noted that the Old Uzbek language had 100 different words for crying. This sparked my curiosity: could the Apple Vision Pro evoke a similar range of emotions through its immersive movie-watching experience?
As someone who enjoys a good cry, I decided to put the Vision Pro to the test. I’m no stranger to shedding tears, whether it’s at funerals, weddings, or even certain social media posts. So, I set out to recreate a hundred forms of crying with Apple’s latest mixed-reality headset.
