Telegram Launches β£Business βFeatures and Ad Revenue Sharing to Rival WhatsApp and Messenger
Customizable Business Tools for Premium Subscribers
Telegram, the popular messaging app with over 900 million βusers, β£has introduced a βnew set of βfeatures called Telegram Business. These βtools, available β’exclusively to Telegram Premium subscribers, aim to help businesses communicate more effectively β’with their customers without the need for coding knowledge.
Telegram βBusiness offers a range of customizable βoptions, such as:
- Setting business βhours and location on a map
- Customizing the βstart page for empty chats with β’text and stickers
- Using preset “quick replies” with formatting, links, media, stickers,β and files
- Creating custom greeting messages forβ£ new and returning customers
- Managing availability with away messages β£during closed hoursβ’ or vacations
- Categorizing chats using β€colored labels based onβ foldersβ like βdelivery, claims, orders, VIP, or feedback
Seamless Customer Interaction and AI Integration
Businesses can create links that instantly open a Telegram chatβ with a specific request, such as tracking an order or reserving a table. Theyβ can also integrate Telegram bots, including AI assistants, to handle messages on their behalf. Telegram founder Pavel Durov has hinted at upcoming βAI-powered chatbots for business users in future updates.
Competingβ with Meta’s Appsβ’ andβ Appleβ’ Messages for Business
Telegram Business aims to challenge the βdominance of Meta’s apps like β€Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp in the business communicationβ’ market. Even Apple has a small β’presence in this space β’with its Apple Messages for Business, used by companies β’such as Shopify, Aramark, Four Seasons, and others.
Accelerating βGrowth and Profitability
Telegram Premium, which costs β$4.99 β£per month on β£iOS andβ Android, has seen βrapid growth in subscribers, β€reaching 5 million in β£January 2024. βTelegram Business β€is expected to further boost βPremium βsubscriptions as the company aimsβ to become profitable byβ 2025, leading βup to a βfutureβ IPO.
Ad Revenue Sharing βProgram Launched
In addition to Premium subscriptions, Telegram generates revenue through Telegram Ads. The company has βrecently launched anβ€ ad revenue sharing program using toncoin, a token on the TON blockchain. Public channels with at least 1,000 subscribers can now generate 50% of the revenue from ads shown in their channels.
Telegram aims to launch AI-poweredβ chatbots β€for business users.
As Telegram continues to innovate and expand its offerings, it isβ positioning itself asβ€ a strong competitor β£in the business communication and messaging market.
